Quick Baskets

1. Desk Basket. Two hours. This little desk basket can be used for whatever you wish--pencils, business cards, dry arrangements, rulers, etc. It can help the creative part of you work with the organized part to make something that is distinctly yours. Make this basket truly yours through choice of color and style.

Remember, there is no such thing as a bad basket. They are all beautiful, just like the person who made it (you)!

2. Make a Heart Basket to cheer up a room, give to a friend, and spread a little more love around the world. This nine-inch basket, made with either paper splint or flat reed, can be painted, decorated, and/or filled with something loving. It won’t take any longer than three or four hours to make.

3. The Handled Serving Basket, Graceful symbol of gifts given and gifts received. This basket is similar to the Boat Basket but wider and can hold anything from soaps to guest towels to cookies to you name it! Made with flat reed, variation is possible in size as well as materials Try creating miniatures, or weave with different materials. Paint designs or dye the materials. Embellish with pods, etc. Wrap with raffia. etc., etc., etc 2-3 hours.

4. The small Offering Basket is almost an extension of one’s giving hands. This basket is fairly simple to put together. I have used these as table favors and to give just a few cookies to a friend. The Japanese people consider the container to be a sort of frame for that which is contained. 2-4 hours.

5. Garlic Basket. This little basket can be made quickly once you learn the
simple twining technique. After you learn to make this one little basket, you can explore all the possibilities, for learning this one technique opens up many vistas! 1-2 hours.

6. Make a rustic Weed Basket, using both flat and round reed, and hang it on the wall to hold treasures from walks in the woods. 3 hours.
