Marketing your Art

There’s a saying, “You have to have your bags packed when opportunity knocks on the door.” This workshop tells you how to pack your bags---how to make it easy for other people to like and want your work.

Artists and craftspersons will learn various marketing tools: how to develop a personal statement and resume, present good photography, create a brochure, how to get work in a gallery, enter competitions, compile a mailing list that gets results, sell in an Art/Craft Show, develop a portfolio, business card, personal logo, and other printed material, how to get written about in magazines, attract Interior Designers, and other creative alternatives that work. Students will see many examples of resumes, brochures, and business cards, and will receive handouts of marketing resources and order sources for display equipment, paper, printers, and more.

If time allows, examples of good slides and poor slides of two- and three-dimensional art will be shown. Student exchange of information is encouraged. Please bring slides of your own work and any printed materials you have, such as business cards, stationery, etc.
Four Hour workshop. Materials fee: $2.
